Bio - Melanie Coxon
I am a barrister who has worked in the area of criminal and traffic law for 25 years. I graduated from Auckland University with a Bachelor of Laws in 1993 and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Social Anthropology in 1987.
Murder Trial - My first case was as a junior in a murder trial with former Criminal Barrister Christopher Harder. I have successfully appeared in my own right in the High Court and have had an accused discharged on a murder charge (not guilty). I have also conducted a successful change of plea application in the High Court from guilty to not guilty then subsequently had the charge dismissed for insufficient evidence.
I regularly successfully help clients obtain discharges without conviction, diversions where the charge is withdrawn by the police for low-level first-time offenders, as well assist clients to obtain non-custodial sentences where the individual is at risk of imprisonment (especially 3rd & subsequent drink-drive charges) I am a user-friendly affordable problem solver.
I learned how to do a good plea bargain with the police and to achieve a better than good result on sentencing working with former criminal lawyer Christopher Harder for 14 years. I have learned how to deal with difficult matters and have access to a very good criminal researcher. I have never had a Law Society complaint. If you need a diversion, discharge without conviction, an adjournment, name suppression, general help on sentencing or you wish to defend your charge, then I am available at an affordable price.
I also do limited / work licences for persons convicted of their first drink-drive in five years or have or are about to be disqualified from driving because they have received 100 or more demerit points for same competitive price. There is also a court filing fee for each application. On top of the $920 includes GST I charge a further $230 including GST if you want me to appear in court when you plead guilty on your drink-drive charge. It is important that you contact me before you plead guilty even if you intend to plead guilty by yourself. Limited work licences are for people who are disqualified from driving but who need to drive for work purposes or other special reasons.
You can email me below for an appraisal of your problem using this website and a free quote will be given.
